Real-Time 3-D Video Converter to Be Unveiled at CES 2013

A company called Lattice Semiconductor has announced it will be unveiling a very interesting product at CES 2013. The product is a real-time 3-D video converter all the RealityBox at show. With the device any 2-D or stereoscopic 3-D video streaming camera can be converted to show glasses free 3-D content in real-time.

The manufacturer says that its RealityBox is ideal for real-time applications such as broadcasting live events in public venues and digital signage. The hardware supports up to 1080p at up to 60 frames per second or 720p at up to 120 frames per second using an HDMI interface.

Being able to convert 2-D or stereoscopic 3-D video to real-time 3-D video that doesn't need glasses is an interesting innovation for sure. The need for 3-D glasses is cited as one of the biggest reasons consumers haven't adopted 3-D TVs in force.
