New streaming content for Apple TV?

Sources who claim to be familiar with the deal say that Apple is in negotiations with Time Warner to bring HBO Go to the Apple TV set-top box. The Apple TV set-top box currently has streaming applications for both Netflix and Hulu Plus. Bringing HBO Go to the set-top box would be a great addition.

According to the source that claims to be familiar with the negotiations, the timeframe for the app to come to the set top box from Apple is mid 2013. Currently HBO Go is available on the Xbox 360, Roku set-top boxes, and mobile devices. A lot of people been waiting for an HBO Go app to come to the PS3 as well, but there's no indication of when that might happen.

If HBO Go does come to the Apple TV, you will have to have a subscription to the HBO network on a participating cable provider. The popularity of the Apple TV set-top box has been increasing with Apple selling over 2 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2013, which ended in December.
