Update addresses iPhone 4S issue
Previously, some carriers, such as Vodafone in the UK, had warned users to not upgrade to version 6.0 of the iOS operating system. That version of the operating system caused some 3G performance issues for iPhone 4S users. Apple has now released a new update that fixes those performance problems.
The update is iOS 6.1.1 and Apple promises that it fixes an issue that could impact cellular performance and reliability for the iPhone 4S user. It remains unclear exactly how many people were affected by the cellular problem with version 6.1 of the operating system.
It's also unclear if Vodafone will now start pushing its users to upgrade their iPhones. Presumably, it might want to wait until the fixe has been verified as working. Vodafone issued a statement last week that read, "While Apple’s investigations continue, we would recommend that anyone who has not yet installed iOS 6.1 on their iPhone 4S should delay doing so until Apple has confirmed that the problem has been fixed."
