IBM is in a new round of layoffs in the United States. Posts on the IBM union Alliance@IBM board report about various layoffs across different IBM locations. Computerworld reports that 1,300 employees have already laid off. Possible more layoffs are coming. Bloomberg reports that cuts are targeted at employees with a range of seniority, from rank-and-file staff to executives. IBM has set aside $1 billion for the restructuring.
IBM is not commenting on the layoffs. IBM has over 430,000 employees world-wide according to Wikipedia.
