Microsoft is going to update its RT line of tablets. Reports suggest that Surface RT and also Windows RT 8.1 tablets will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon processors with LTE support.
Microsoft is planning to refresh its Surface RT tablets with faster Snapdragon 800 processor from San Diego-based Qualcomm Inc. It may be because that these tablets are sold less than expected by the company. Now it is being reported by Bloomberg sources that Microsoft is going to update Surface RT with faster processors. Current RT tablets are powered by Tegra 3 processors of California-based Nvidia Corp.

Microsoft is reportedly planning to shift its processor flagship from Nvidia to Qualcomm. It will boost processor power as Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 processors are much faster than Tegra. Also these processors provide advanced LTE wireless connections. Yet sources also report that Nvidia will supply Tegra in small amount for some versions of RT. Hence Surface RT and also Windows RT 8.1 tablets are expected to be updated with Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and built-in LTE. But the representatives of all three tech firms refused to give any comment on the news.
