Google reportedly working on a gaming console and wristwatch

What's next for Google? Gaming consoles? Wristwatches? Why not?

The secret to getting ahead is getting started.

That seems to be the kind of strategy Google is using, now that we are hearing rumors that the Mountain View-based technology giant is developing its own video game console and wristwatch.

The Wall Street Journal, citing sources who are familiar with Google's plans, says that Google might be expanding beyond smartphones and tablets. Google is also reportedly launching a next-generation Nexus Q, a media streaming device that never took off, at least commercially.

Sources added that Google's main purpose here is to counter Apple's plan of launching similar devices. Google declined to comment on the report.
