What is Apple actually planning for this year's holiday shopping season? Apple is going to debut a refreshed lineup of iPhones and iPads after a quiet period of more than a year. It is already known that Apple is going to launch its next generation iPhone at September 10 event. Along with the launch of new iPhone 5S, next generation iPad with big screen size (9.7 inch probably) and thinner body design is also expected. While an iPad mini refresh with high resolution is also expected which is not present in current 7.9-inch model. We can also see a software revamp for all devices including Mac as announced already by Apple back in June. A low cost iPhone also called iPhone 5C is also reportedly included in Apple's plans for budgeted customers.
Bloomberg reports that these "updates will enable Apple to present a refreshed lineup of its top-selling products to consumers ahead of the year-end holiday shopping season." More than 70 percent of the Apple's last quarter sales came from iPhones and iPads. And it is much needed now for the company to launch new products as its stocks slumped in last quarter. Only tablet share goes down to 32 percent which was 60 percent in last year. Analyst at ISI Group in San Francisco, Brian Marshall said, “To drive growth you need to have that next iPhone and iPad refreshed."
Apple CEO Tim Cook has already announced in March that company will introduce its new products during this fall and by the start of the next year. IDC analyst Ramon Llamas states, “This makes it so all eyes are on Apple, and that’s exactly what Apple loves.” Cupertino, California-based Apple will see a huge increase in its sales after launching new products. Yet company's spokeswoman, Trudy Muller, refused to give any comment about upcoming plans.
