This report makes you disconnect your Wi-Fi enabled Baby Monitor right away. A hacker took control over a Baby Monitor in a Texas home to spy on a 2-year old.

There is a high price we pay on having all things connected to the internet. The latest range of Baby Monitors for instance can be connected to the net so you can monitor your kids from your smartphone or computer. Now ABC aired a report about a family in Texas that had a creepy encounter with a hacker that took control over their Baby Monitor.

A hacker was apparently able to take over all functions of the Baby Monitor including the speaker. He was shouting at the 2-year old sleeping girl. When the parents entered he addressed them with lewd comments until the father disconnected the monitor. It is not clear how long the hacker had control over the monitor.

It is clear that we have to be aware that anything we connect to the net can be hacked. You need to take basic precautions like changing the default admin passwords.
