New College Rankings for 2014 are Released

A report listing the most prestigious colleges for 2014 has just been issued. It provides new college rankings for the upcoming year.

Over 1800 colleges have been selected in a national survey of the best of the best in the United States by US News & World Report. Among the universe of universities, Princeton seems to have overtaken Harvard to snatch the #1 position in national university rankings. Meanwhile, in liberal arts colleges, Williams College is tops. Certain changes have been made in the criteria by which prestige and caliber are judged.

Academic results by the end of the semester are a far better sign of how a college or university is faring in its day to day delivery of education. A high school’s ranking matters little when compared to actual outcome in terms of pupil performance. Furthermore, the mismatch between predictions of success and the reality of report cards when they come could not be emphasized more. Deeds and not words are the final litmus test

The main function of the new college rankings report is to let parents and students thoroughly research which educational institution is best. After all, it is a matter of the youngster’s future career and overall life success.

Among some of the categories that have been included in the new college rankings report’s purview are: undergraduate business programs, undergraduate engineering classes, value schools, counselor rankings and many other nuggets of useful information. This is part of an effort that has been going on since the 80s to improve school data so that families can make the right decisions as regards their children’s guidance.
