Apple’s shift to a 64-bit processor began four years ago when the device was installed on its Mac system. But today with the iPhone 5S featuring the same processor, the case is said to be a little different. Will the move cause a transfer to 4GB of memory? The answer is: probably not! Apple’s action was not meant for that purpose.
Rather it was most likely carried out in order to benefit the upcoming Apple TV. The Xbox One has 8GB of memory. Apple is trying to come up with a competitive answer to many other organizations that are busy upgrading the memory banks that feature in their devices.
The thinkers and technicians at Apple are not as simple as they look. Behind this move lies a whole philosophy of gaining an edge over some clever rivals. Apple’s Mac and OS X have proven that the giant firm knows what it is talking about.
Furthermore, the tradition of innovation at Apple lets go of any baggage such as past models of excellence. It seeks the new and stays lean and hungry. The usage of technology at the right moment is crucial and Apple is doing just that in its currently puzzling strategy.
The pros outweigh the cons of employing a 64-bit architecture. It is a good change that will ultimately pay off. But patience is needed and Apple is willing to wait it out till it hits pay dirt with this new transformation.
