The two other giants at Apple besides Tim Cook were interviewed recently. Jony Ive and Craig Federighi talked about iOS 7 and how they cooperated in the capacity of SVPs of the Design and Software Engineering Departments respectively.
Apple’s Jony Ive and Craig Federighi Interviewed, Talked on iOS 7 and Collaboration
The interview tells all about the genius minds behindApple. The making of iOS 7, and how the two SVPs see eye to eye, are two points which were especially discussed. Federighi spoke of how together he and the Design SVP wanted to do something extraordinary. And so they brought all the various teams at Apple together.
A great restructuring took place at Apple and so Ive was assigned Human Interface and Industrial Design while Federighi was lent access to iOS. The creation of iOS 7 involved a very high level of interaction between the teams. This was overseen with finesse. The amount of focus and concentration that went into constructing the iOS 7 out of scratch was beyond the normal range.
Everybody on the team was fixated by the process of creativity involved in the project. There was no room for individuality in this since it was such an engrossing act. The fact that Ive and Federighi sit in close proximity (a minute’s distance from each other) shows the degree of seriousness with which they take their work.
They also both mentioned the support and understanding extended their way by Tim Cook who is the CEO of Apple Incorporated. The philosophy at Apple has always been of obsessive attention to detail. Steve Jobs’ perfectionism is still alive and well even though the man has long since parted from the earthly plane.
The “geek mind” is concerned with more than just the latest iPhone rumors, or which company will win the gaming console wars. I4U is concerned with more than just the latest photo shoot or other celebrity gossip.
The “geek mind” is concerned with life, in all its different forms and facets. The geek mind wants to know about societal and financial issues, both abroad and at home. If a Fortune 500 decides to raise their minimum wage, or any high priority news, the geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants to know the top teams in the National Football League, or who’s likely to win the NBA Finals this coming year. The geek mind wants to know who the hottest new models are, or whether the newest blockbuster movie is worth seeing. The geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants—needs—knowledge.
