Buyers of the latest 13 inch Retina MacBook Pro have reported that the trackpad and keyboard of the laptop locks up occasionally, becomes unresponsive, and is not cognizant of input. Apple has acknowledged that the problem does occurs but insists the issue develops in rare circumstances. According to the support document, employees at Apple Inc. are working on a new update to either the firmware or software to prevent this issue occurring again.
Meanwhile, the company recommends closing the lid to put the MacBook to sleep and then reopening the lid to reset the keyboard and trackpad. While this workaround has achieved success, users are still awaiting the new fix to prevent the issue from occurring in the future. Consumers have claimed that the temporary solution while effective ranges from annoying to disruptive, depending on what the user is working on when the issue occurs.
While there has been no severe case of keyboard and trackpad locking, even occasional occurrences have spurred online debates and discussions about hard times in the California-based company. Consumers facing this problem can guarantee however that a fix is not far from delivery, going by Apple's track record that fixes bugs within a short span of being reported.
According to sources, this issue does not occur in the 15-inch model of the Retina Macbook Pro, only the 13-inch model. Apple has assured irate consumers that it will fix the issue as soon and possible and advised them to proceed with the workaround or temporary fix till the issue has been resolved.
