Open auditions hope to fill major roles
If you're an aspiring actor who happens to live in the UK, you want to set up an audition for the Star Wars sequel being made by Disney. Word has surfaced that open auditions are being held starting later this week around the UK and in Ireland. The auditions will reportedly be held in London, Dublin, and Glascow.
A casting notice says filmmakers looking to fill two roles in the film described as street smart and strong" orphaned girl in her late teens and a "smart capable" man in his late teens or early 20s. The open auditions are trying to be low key about which film they're looking for actors for, saying only that it's a "nationwide search for lead roles for a Disney movie."
Star Wars: Episode VII is set to begin filming at Pinewood Studios in the spring of 2014. The movie is expected in theaters in 2015. Star Wars has a long tradition of using little-known actors for major roles. For instance, Mark Hamill had never been in a major film when cast as Luke Skywalker.
