MapQuest Updates iOS and Android Apps with Revamped Mapping Features

While Apple Maps and Google Maps may have been hogging the limelight, MapQuest’s time has come. It has just updated its iPhone and Android apps with revamped mapping and a ton of new features including beautiful new UI, improved cartography, traffic routing status bar and more.

This day in time, MapQuest has launched its new update to the mobile app for iOS and Android users. Even now, MapQuest has the third most popular mobile app and the second greatest mapping facility for desktop users, according to ComScore. With 40 million uniques under its belt in September, over 30.7 million were on desktop and a total of 14 million were on mobile and tablet. And as for those who employed many platforms, they numbered all in all 4.3 million.

The researchers at Mapquest knew that they could do a good job provided they put their mind to it. So they did a bit of brainstorming and virtually reinvented their mobile app for the better. The new features included in MapQuest iPhone are the advanced search capabilities, beautiful and eye-catching map styling, traffic conditions on route, custom home/work bookmarking, road alerts, sharing and audio mute option to turn off voice-guided directions whenever you want.

Their new app is speedier, highly efficient and more convenient to use. The complex routes and street navigation were made a cinch to go through. Simplification is what the whole process has basically undergone. Various color markers along with pointers have been added to the maps that appear on the screen.

While many of the changes are not radical enough, deep down inside quite a few elements have been shaken up. The directions and helpful hints are top notch. There is rerouting and important notifications that pop up from time to time. It even has several discovery features that allow navigators to find hotspots for dining or entertainment.
