John Oliver Leaves Jon Stewart for Own Show On HBO

As a fan of Jon Stewart's Daily show you know that Daily Show correspondent John Oliver was hosting the show during last summer. Jon Stewart was out directing his first movie. The performance of John Oliver was excellent and now it pays off big time for the comedian. What I still remember most is John Oliver's hilarious dance move when Carlos Danger came up. Watch a compilation of that below. HBO announced that John Oliver gets his own weekly satire show starting next year.

The new John Oliver Show will like the Daily Show take a satirical look at news, current events and politics. It is supposed to get a Sunday evening slot. HBO specifically said that they wanted John Oliver because of his performance sitting in for Jon Stewart.

HBO has already a satire news show hosted by the great Bill Maher. I am totally looking forward to the new John Oliver Show.

The Robin Hood Foundation's 2014 Benefit - Inside
Recent debate about network neutrality has largely focused on how to make sure broadband providers don't manipulate their customers' Internet connections (or as John Oliver put it, how to prevent "cable company f*ckery"). But in today's world of smartphones and tablets people are spending less of their time on the Internet typing at a computer and more of it swiping on a smartphon ...

John Oliver Takes On Hobby Lobby And Companies Who Want Religious Rights (VIDEO)

Source: The Huffington Post: UK Edition

Should companies have the same rights as people? That's been the issue at the heart of the US Supreme Court's ruling on Monday that corporations are not required to provide contraception coverage for their employees. The ruling came as a result of the chain Hobby Lobby - sort of an American, Christian-owned version of Hobbycraft - arguing that Obamacare's contraception mandate goes aga ...

If There’s An Argument Against Gay Marriage, Kentucky Didn’t Make It

Source: Truth Dig

paintings / Shutterstock.com U.S. District Court Judge John G. Heyburn II all but laughed the commonwealth’s case against same-sex marriage out of court. “These arguments are not those of serious people,” he wrote. Lawyers on behalf of the state argued that natural procreation was necessary to economic stability. ‘Community’ somehow escapes death one more time, with sixth season on Yahoo! Screen

The Paley Center For Media's PaleyFest 2014 Honoring "Community"
My only regret is that I can’t do the “Troy and Abed on the internet!” joke since Donald Glover won’t be back. Community, which ran for five seasons and on borrowed time for seemingly all of them, has been renewed for one last season. (We think, though no one would say definitively in the reports we’ve seen.) Yahoo! Screen is picking up the series for a 13-episode sixth season, and is apparently interested in wrapping up the show’s “Six Seasons and a Movie ...

The Robin Hood Foundation's 2014 Benefit - Inside
Sunday saw nation-wide gay pride parades bring to a close a month of celebrations recognizing the impact LGBT individuals have had on society. In honor of the occasion, John Oliver dedicated a lengthy segment to looking at the progress that has been made for equality at home, and the not progress that has taken place elsewhere, particularly in Uganda, thanks in no small part to American and British influence. After puzzling over the appointment of Uganda's Sam Kutesa as the U.N.'s ne ...
