The Sony PlayStation 4 went on sale on Friday, November 24. Sony announced on Sunday that the highly anticipated launch of the new PS4 resulted in 1 million units sold through during the first 24 hours after it became available in the United States and Canada. This is much much better than for the Sony PS3. According to a 2007 Sony announcement it took the PS3 two month to reach two million in Japan and United States combined.
"The Sony PS4 was designed with an unwavering commitment to gamers, and we are thrilled that consumer reaction has been so phenomenal," said Andrew House, President and Group CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc. "Sales remain very strong in North America, and we expect continued enthusiasm as we launch the PlayStation 4 in Europe and Latin America on November 29. We are extremely grateful for the passion of PlayStation fans and thank them for their continued support."
The Sony PS4 is really hard to find. This is actually a problem for Sony. They need to flood the market now before the Xbox One launches. If you cannot buy a PS4, some consumers will go and get a Xbox One instead.
