YouTube is the top free video-sharing channel worldwide. The Google-owned video website allows anyone to upload, view and share videos without any cost whatsoever. Each month, more than 6 billion hours of videos are being watched on YouTube. YouTube has by now become a globally recognized channel. The San Bruno, California-based channel has scads of people visiting it in order to browse for a variety of videos ranging from movies and TV shows to music albums. This year has almost reached its end. And so the company has announced the most watched YouTube videos in 2013. These include top 10 most trending videos and also the top 10 music videos.
It is not possible to predict the annual lists. But the list of trending videos just gets bigger each year. And YouTube has now become a global channel since 80 percent of all views on YouTube are coming from outside the United States. YouTube states in its official blog that "The global community is driving pop culture unlike ever before."
The Fox is the topmost watched video on YouTube this year. This video is being watched more than 275 million times since its launch on YouTube three months ago. The Fox video features Norwegian comedy duo Ylvis. Both the brothers Vegard and Bard Ylvisaker dressed up as foxes. And they were dancing at a trippy forest-based light show with other people in animal masks. The video is such a big hit that its fox dress also became the top searched-for Halloween costume. "The Fox (What Does the Fox Say?)" by Ylvis is being uploaded on YouTube by the tvnorge. PSY’s post-"Gangnam Style" performance also got a record number of views. Meanwhile, over 1.7 million “Harlem Shake” videos were being uploaded. This upload number is more than there are people in Manhattan.

Music videos have also become very popular on YouTube. That is why, the social network giant revealed a separate list of top 10 music videos for2013. Top 10 music videos list has PSY's "GENTLEMAN M/V" on top. It is the most watched music video on YouTube this year. Miley Cyrus is the only singer that has two of her videos featured in the list. Cyrus's "Wrecking Ball" is at the #2 slot while her music video of "We Can't Stop" is at #3. Katy Perry's "Roar" is at #4. The fifth most watched music video is "Just Give Me A Reason" by P!nk featuring Nate Ruess. "Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke is there at #6. Rihanna's "Stay" is at #7. As for the #8 spot it goes to the Naughty Boy's "La La La". "Come & Get It" by Selena Gomez and Avicii's "Wake Me Up" music videos are at the #9 and #10 positions respectively.
