The pride of New York, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor is to proceed with the 60 second countdown to 2014. This event will take place at Times Square on New Year’s Eve as New Yorkers, along with the rest of the world, bid farewell to 2013.

Sonia Sotomayor will Lower the Times Square New Year’s Eve Ball

The preparations for the Times Square celebrations at the year’s end are picking up speed. And this time around it will be Bronx resident and success role model, Justice Sonia Sotomayor who will welcome the New Year in a stride. She will be the center of attention at the feted event. 

And Justice Sotomayor will be pressing a button at the exact hour of midnight 2013, which will release the contents of a giant ball. Lots of confetti will be showered upon an audience of a million people. Among the other celebrities that will grace the occasion may be included: pop star Lady Gaga, legendary boxer Muhammad Ali as well as the Clintons. Even the provocative and controversial Miley Cyrus with her twerking antics will be present at the event. The occurrence will be witnessed by over a billion individuals on a worldwide level. 

Times Square NYC  Facebook page  states: "We’re excited to announce that Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor will help lower the Times Square New Year’s Eve Ball at 11:59pm on December 31st. A native of the Bronx, Justice Sotomayor was appointed to the Supreme Court in 2009, and was the third woman and first Hispanic to be appointed to the highest court in the United States. She is an inspiration to New Yorkers everywhere, and we can’t wait to have her join us."

Sotomayor is an inspiration to millions since she is the first Hispanic lady to be Supreme Court Justice. She emerged from the most down to earth conditions to achieve a name and fame for herself. She is the epitome of the American Dream as a living reality. 

Besides her, Mayor Bloomberg will make the event memorable by his presence. The colorful and exciting happening moment will be remembered till the same time next year. For now though it is goodbye 2013 and hello 2014.
