Times Square NYC Facebook page states: "We’re excited to announce that Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor will help lower the Times Square New Year’s Eve Ball at 11:59pm on December 31st. A native of the Bronx, Justice Sotomayor was appointed to the Supreme Court in 2009, and was the third woman and first Hispanic to be appointed to the highest court in the United States. She is an inspiration to New Yorkers everywhere, and we can’t wait to have her join us."

Sotomayor is an inspiration to millions since she is the first Hispanic lady to be Supreme Court Justice. She emerged from the most down to earth conditions to achieve a name and fame for herself. She is the epitome of the American Dream as a living reality.
