She has appeared on screen countless times. Female thespian, Maria Conchita Alonso has played roles in The Running Man with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Moscow on the Hudson alongside Robbin Williams. A prominent Latina figure, she recently appeared in an advert with a Tea Party Republican, Tim Donnelly supporting his bid for governorship of California.
However, the thing which really upset most members of her community was that the candidate she was endorsing was anti-immigration. He wanted police forces at the state border to prevent people especially Mexicans coming in the United States from the south. The uproar over her choice has led to her being dropped from the Vagina Monologues in Spanish.
Maria’s controversial decision to bolster Tim Donnelly may have cost her a lot in terms of career mileage. However, she has defended herself by saying that the constitution gives her the right to say what she likes. Freedom of speech is guaranteed in the United States.
In the ad, Maria Conchita Alonso used vulgar language while holding a small dog. She called the canine “Tequila” thereby adding insult to injury. The actress has said that while she is in favor of legal immigration, it is illegal immigration she is against.
The organizers of the Vagina Monologues have given a statement according to which she is welcome to her opinion but unfortunately they cannot have her among the cast any longer. Maria has lived in Cuba and Venezuela and is against both Castro and the Late Hugo Chavez. She in fact once compared Chavez to Hitler.
