The management of blood sugar levels is a troublesome issue for the diabetic among us. There are even cases of people with diabetes veering off the road due to falling blood glucose. So a better method had to be invented to measure blood sugar.
The old pinprick method was getting outdated. It is painful and too crude for our times. So the experts at Google, who are adept at the moon-shot, decided to something about this conundrum.
One method that was foolproof was the measurement of blood glucose in tears. Since almost all the bodily fluids of diabetics have trace amounts of sugar in them, the usage of a pair of contact lenses to gauge the glucose levels would be appropriate.
The microchips and sensors as well as LEDs implanted within the thin material of the contact lenses will alert the wearer as to his or her blood glucose levels. The whole process of invention is underway and matters are being discussed with the FDA. This will be a seminal step in the struggle against the curse of diabetes.
