Despite popular beliefs, electronic cigarettes are not the way to quit smoking. Most teenagers, who have taken to them as a means of ending their nicotine addiction, end up craving tobacco products even more than before.
E-cigarettes are supposed to be the way out of the dilemma of smoking nicotine-based products. However, the latest research proves otherwise. Youth who were smoking electronic cigarettes in a desperate bid to quit smoking ended up smoking even more on a regular basis. This just might be a new form of nicotine addiction that the youth are now hooked on.

Basically, they are cigarette-shaped battery-operated implements that release a spray of nicotine and chemicals that are then inhaled by the smoker. And ad campaigns tout them as the solution to cigarette smoking. In other words, they have been purported to be a better alternative to the real thing. A large number of teenagers and adults have taken a liking to e-cigarettes.
The problem is that their marketing to youngsters is unregulated. The deluge of e-cigarettes that hits the younger generation is in itself an unhealthy direction in which these impressionable juvenile minds are being led. Most of the adolescents who were smoking e-cigarettes were also smoking real cigarettes alongside them.
Contrary to expectations, the young were not weaned off the real stuff thanks to e-cigarettes. Rather they ended up getting even more tangled in the addiction trap. It was an extreme rarity to find a person smoking an e-cigarette who wasn’t addicted to actual tobacco products too.
