The Grammy Awards 2014 this year featured live weddings of about three dozen pairs. Couples of every hue and type were there from gays to the elderly and the young.
While music and music awards formed the mainstay of the Grammies 2014, some weddings got held as well. A total of 34 couples, which included every color and flavor, got betrothed to each other. The weddings, especially the same-sex ones, got serenaded by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’s “Same Love” wedding anthem. The producers were sincere in regard to their intentions.

The marriage ceremonies were the stuff that was the talk of the town. They symbolized an equality of all those concerned. Madonna and Queen Latifah were present at the wedding function to lend their blessings. The celebration of difference was the goal and major aim of the nuptials.
However, there were no fireworks involved in the whole shebang. Rather, the function proceeded in a very dignified and sober manner. The whole objective was not to degrade gay marriage since that would have hurt the cause of tolerance. It was in a spirit of “live and let live” that the event got underway. The idea was born when Macklemore and Ryan Lewis sat down with the producer over lunch one day.
After some serious brainstorming they came up with the wedding theme as the best and most sound motif for the Grammy Awards. The staged wedding segment will be an additional colorful entry in the show. And it will further increase its popularity ratings.
