The reality TV series Duck Dynasty has proven to be incredibly popular. Not only do the stars of the reality show make a boatload for being on the show, they also have a successful business that the show follows called Duck Commander.
The Duck Commander business owned by the reality stars is now sponsoring their own college bowl game for football. The game is the Duck Commander Independence Bowl reports Hollywood Reporter. The game has been renamed the AdvoCare Bowl, but the Duck Commander folks returned the name of the game to the Independence Bowl.
Last season the game was played on New Year's Eve and was shown on ESPN. Duck Commander will be sponsoring the college bowl game for five years.
"College football is very important to us, both as fans and former players. The Independence Bowl is what college football is all about: It has great tradition and it’s all-American,” said Willie Robertson. “Add in its Louisiana location and appreciation of the military and it creates a winning partnership for both parties. It's especially exciting to see our brand help the Independence Bowl create an awesome fan experience."
It's unclear right now when the game will be played next season. Next season is a big one for college football with a new College Football Playoff season kicking off for the first time.
"The Independence Bowl Foundation and this community are thrilled to have Duck Commander as our new title sponsor, and we’re honored they’ve chosen to place 'Independence' back in the bowl’s name,” said incoming bowl chairman Paul Pratt. “The Independence Bowl has a long history of bringing valuable and exciting sports entertainment to the Shreveport-Bossier City area. This is a new day and an excellent opportunity for college football in Louisiana.”
