Amazon Set Top Box to Come with Netflix and Hulu Plus Apps

Amazon is about to release its answer to Roku. The organization’s video streaming service will feature on the device. And it will run applications that include Netflix and Hulu Plus among its wide repertoire.

The Plan A for Amazon was to introduce its TV set top box at Christmas time last year. However, things got stalled and so it was on to Plan B. The further addition of Netflix and Hulu Plus to the features is a pleasant surprise indeed.

Gigaom "confirmed that this will indeed be the case, and that Hulu Plus will be available through the device as well. However, some mid-sized, more niche-focused video publishers told me that they haven’t been asked to join. Netflix wasn’t available for comment on the subject, and Hulu and Amazon didn’t reply requests for comment."

A few small-scale platforms haven’t been invited on board though. The device will come with a remote control which though rather old fashioned ironically still works in today’s world of retro-futurism.

Amazon is among the list of firms that employ the DIAL multi-screen method. What this means is that many people will be able to operate the service from the vicinity of their phones.

Amazon had been in a dormant state of incubation as far as the set top box was concerned. But now it has come out with this latest and funkiest gadget.

The company’s Lab126 Research & Development Unit had a whole team of experts working on the gizmo. Even Android is being used in tandem with the contraption.

The Apple TV set top box is another example of rival companies building their entertainment devices. But Amazon has in the words of founder Jeff Bezos been one large happy family.

What goes on in Amazon stays in Amazon. Rivalries and feuds with outsider organizations aside, the inner climate at Amazon is one of creative chaos.

Even if Jeff shouts and screams at his employees, he later on is seen patting them on the back. It is his style that has inspired total commitment from the employees of Amazon. And with its TV streaming service, Amazon is ready to join the entertainment Hall of Fame.
