The forgotten S band of the S4 comes back as a fitness device for the S5, this time with better design and features

The S Band by Samsung which was originally announced to accompany the Galaxy S4 as an accessory never made it to the market and we kept waiting for it to show up. Looks like Samsung hadnt forgotten about it altogether and now they are planning to bring an S band successor to the Galaxy 5. We will now have have the new S band as S5's fitness accessory and will also be used with all other devices in the coming months. The slides for the sales guide of the Galaxy S5 show that the new S band will have an improved design and enhanced working and the overall design resembles the Gear Fit in some manners.

More or less, the functions will remain to be the same and like the original S band, this one will also be used as a fitness band with no display. The absence of a display tells us that the device will function on the sensors attached to it and whataver needs to appear on a display will show up as readings on the connected smartphone. The device will help you track certian things such as the steps you take and the calories burned and it will also act as a sleeping monitor. Since the device will be attached to the smartphone, it can also notify the users about important messages, the calls missed and received. If the device ever loses its Bluetooth connection with the phone, it will notify the users immediately by flashing its LED light vibrating with the help of the inbuilt alarm.

The S band will most probably be compatbile with the upcoming Samsung devices as well as the existing ones, however an update to version 3.0 of S Health will be required. So far we have got no information on the pricing and the release date but we are waiting for more details.
