Danica Patrick collided with Clint Bowyer on the pit road exiting her pit stall
During NASCAR races, the pit road that one gets on after leaving their pit stop offers a dangerous route. If one gets lucky and drives carefully, the danger can be overlooked, however if that is not the case then fatal accidents may be incurred.
It is still not certain whether this accident between Danica Patrick and Clint Bowyer may fit perfectly in the above described situation. The collision started when Kevin Harvick crashed next to wall, causing Brad Keselowski and Jamie Murray to assemble in the aftermath where Danica Patrick and Bowyer then collided on the pit road. Patrick applied great force on her accelerator causing smoke to arise and the car’s rear to slide towards the left. Bowyer has pitted at two stops before Danica Patrick and yet was still at the stall again.
During the collision, as Danica Patrick aligned her vehicle onto the road, it headed straight into the right part of the rear of Bowyer’s car. Despite applying the brakes, it was too late and one possible reason why the crash could not be prevented may be the fact that Patrick had fourth gear. The crash could have been worse, as the accident did not destroy their chances of driving. Danica Patrick finished at the 18th place whereas Clint Bowyer had finished at the 15th placed.
According to Harris Interactive’s new poll from June 11-16 of this year, LeBron James now ranks as America’s favorite sports star, surpassing Michael Jordan. This reverses their positions from last year, when Jordan stood atop the mountain and James looked up from the second spot. Number three is Derek Jeter, who has risen from sixth place last year. Neither Dale Earnhardt Jr. nor Danica Patrick is the most mentioned NASCAR driver on television this season.
With a Daytona 500 victory and in the midst of one of the best seasons of his career it would seem logical that Dale Earnhardt Jr., would be talked about more than any other driver during telecasts of NASCAR Sprint Cup races.
Not so, as NASCAR's most popular driver is ranked fifth. Nor is Danica Patrick ranked No. 1 in ment ... Source: SBNation

Recording artist and shameless bandwagon sports fan Drake was in his element Sunday night as the host of the 2014 ESPYS.In addition to MCing the ESPN awards show, Drake also busted out a pair of original songs that were, well, interesting. Displaying a soft tone and wry sense of humor, Drake first performed a song he called "Honorable Mentions"—a tongue-in-cheek tribute to the second-place finishers in sports. It featured subtle shots at ever ... Source: Bleacher ReportFull article at: Bleacher ReportJul 16 2014, 9:57pm CDT
So, the ESPYS took kind of a dark turn tonight. It started off innocently enough with Drake performing a medley interlude, starting with a song about the athletes who have never won anything—taking playful jabs at Dan Marino, Danica Patrick, and others—and then he started singing about Side Pieces. And then Brian McKnight showed up and started singing about Side Pieces w ... Source: Deadspin

A wild race at Daytona included three rain delays, two massive crashes and a first-time winner after the rain-shortened event. That, my friends, is a busy holiday weekend for NASCAR.
The Coke Zero 400 was initially supposed to run on Saturday night but was moved back to Sunday due to rain. When the race finally got started, two "Big Ones" that collected a total of 42 cars quickly became the s ... Source: Bleacher ReportFull article at: Bleacher ReportJul 9 2014, 6:00am CDT
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Aric Almirola grew up two hours from Daytona International Speedway, attended countless races as a kid and even “dreamed about what it would be like to have a chance to race at the highest level at this racetrack.”
He found out Sunday, after two days of thunderstorms, three red-flag stoppages and dozens of wrecked cars.
As a bonus, he also accomplished the feat on a milestone anniversary f ... Source: CBS Charlotte

For the first time during the entire season, a driver not named Matt Crafton or Kyle Busch finally collected a checkered flag in a Camping World Truck Series race at Gateway Motorsports Park.
That driver's name is Darrell Wallace Jr., who came away with his second victory in the truck series at the St. Louis track. Now Wallace and the entire CWTS field will likely have to contend with a field of Sprint Cup regulars at Kentucky for the UNOH 225.

SONOMA, Calif. — Jamie McMurray took the time to help rookie teammate Kyle Larson learn the road course at Sonoma Raceway.
The payoff for working together was two Chip Ganassi Racing cars in the top three of the starting field of Sunday’s race.
McMurray won the pole for Sunday’s race with a track record lap that bumped AJ Allmendinger from the top starting spot, and Larson qualified a surprising third.

The “geek mind” is concerned with more than just the latest iPhone rumors, or which company will win the gaming console wars. I4U is concerned with more than just the latest photo shoot or other celebrity gossip.
The “geek mind” is concerned with life, in all its different forms and facets. The geek mind wants to know about societal and financial issues, both abroad and at home. If a Fortune 500 decides to raise their minimum wage, or any high priority news, the geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants to know the top teams in the National Football League, or who’s likely to win the NBA Finals this coming year. The geek mind wants to know who the hottest new models are, or whether the newest blockbuster movie is worth seeing. The geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants—needs—knowledge.
