Rebecca Soteros Declared an Incompetent Mom by Paul Walker’s Mother

Paul Walker left behind a daughter named Meadow to whom most of his will of $16 million is to go. But his 15 year old daughter’s mother, Rebecca Soteros has been declared incompetent to raise the teenager by Paul’s mom.

When Paul Walker’s mother took to the law courts to gain custody of his daughter, it caught the biological mother off guard. Rebecca Soteros was deemed to be an alcoholic and hence an unfit mother for

Meadow, Paul’s 15 year old daughter by the matriarch. A source close to both Rebecca and Meadow has stated that the decision by Cheryl Ann Walker was something which totally nauseated mother and daughter.

"Knowing Rebecca, I know she would never let anyone else care for her daughter. She loves her," the E! News source says. "She has always been and will always be a good mother and there is no reason for a change. She will fight this, I'm sure, until her last breath to be [Meadow's] mom. All she wants is to have her child."

Rebecca had dated Paul way back in the good old days and after the birth of their daughter they split. Maybe one reason for Meadow being a bone of contention between Cheryl and Rebecca is that all of Paul’s posthumous wealth is going to go to his daughter. Then to further add to the complication, Paul has said in his will that Rebecca should not be the guardian of Meadow.

In Cheryl’s words, Rebecca has faced a serious problem with the bottle. She was arrested twice on DUI charges. But, despite her issues with alcohol, Rebecca is a good mother and she won’t be giving up on her daughter so easily. She is tenacious as a parent and wants to love and care and be there for Meadow.

As for the drinking problem alleged by Cheryl Ann, the insider says, "It's just crazy how people blow things out of proportion. She doesn't have a problem or a serious drinking problem. From what I know, she has never once been incapable of not taking care of her children...Rebecca is a great mother and Meadow is a very happy child. Their relationship is excellent. They are good friends and very close just like any mother and daughter. Rebecca was basically the only parent raising Meadow for the first 12 years of her life. Rebecca is a former school teacher and good with children."

Meadow and Rebecca had been living intermittently with Cheryl who is a nurse. Previously, they had lived in Hawaii for a while. According to those close to Rebecca and Meadow, the former has been caring for the latter since the past 12 years or so. As to the charges of alcoholism, they say they have been wildly exaggerated.

Rebecca is basically a kind and nurturing mother who has only had a positive influence on Meadow. She even helps Meadow with her homework everyday like any caring mom would. Grandmother Cheryl seems to be more or less motivated by the financial lure of Paul’s $16 million will which is to go in its entirety to Meadow.

L.A.-based trust attorney Mina Sirkin exclusively tells E! News, "Grandma' motive is to care for the minor. I can see that the child's quality of life would be better if she lives with both grandma and mother, but I don't know if that is possible. Guardians of the estate and person do get paid, but I don't think this is the motive behind grandma's petition."
