Dakota Johnson to star in Black Mass after 50 Shades of Grey
If you don’t know the name Dakota Johnson, it looks like you will. The up and coming actor is the daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson. She has most recently starred in Need for Speed as the sister of the racer who dies, sending the main character to prison for a few years.
Johnson is also playing the role of Anastasia Steel in the movie adaptation of 50 Shades of Grey. Her next role will be opposite Johnny Depp in a gangster flick called Black Mass reports Deadline. Depp will play gangster Whitey Bulger with Johnson playing his girlfriend and mother of his son. Black Mass is being put together by Warner Bros. Other actors tied to the project include Joel Edgerton as FBI agent John Connolly.
Guy Pearce will play Bill Bulger, brother to the mobster and state senator in Massachusetts. At some point Johnson will return to star in two or three more films based on the other books in the 50 Shades universe. The first movie in that 50 Shades franchise will launch on February 14, 2015. That is the day after Valentine's Day; I guess the studio is hoping for some S&M romance for the holiday to get lovebirds in the mood. Black Mass is a biopic based on a real story. It's unclear how much the film will stick to the real story. Odds are it will be loosely based, but who knows.
