Google Glass technology to get mainstream on Oakley and Ray-Ban
Google is going to finalise a deal which is finally going to put its Glass into the mainstream. It is now partnering with Luxottica which is the eyewear manufacturer behind a host of brands including Ray-Ban and Oakley. The result of this partnership is going to be a range of exclusive eyeglass frames which are going to feature the Glass technology.
For the initial time period, the new development will be coming to the US market alone with Ray-Ban and Oakley and from what we know from the Luxottica press release, the first collection will "combine high-end technology with avant-garde design offering the best in style, quality, and performance."
The design credits go to both thr companies since it is a joint effort between Google and Luxottica as far as the design is concerned but the manufacturing is completely being taken care of by Luxottica alone. There has been no official statement regarding when the new technology is going to hit the markets but by the looks of it, we will still have to wait for a long time. According to a Google+ post, "You're not going to see Glass on your favorite Oakleys or Ray-Bans tomorrow, but today marks the start of a new chapter in Glass's design."
The “geek mind” is concerned with more than just the latest iPhone rumors, or which company will win the gaming console wars. I4U is concerned with more than just the latest photo shoot or other celebrity gossip.
The “geek mind” is concerned with life, in all its different forms and facets. The geek mind wants to know about societal and financial issues, both abroad and at home. If a Fortune 500 decides to raise their minimum wage, or any high priority news, the geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants to know the top teams in the National Football League, or who’s likely to win the NBA Finals this coming year. The geek mind wants to know who the hottest new models are, or whether the newest blockbuster movie is worth seeing. The geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants—needs—knowledge.
