Philips plans on releasing its Android-powered TV sets in smaller sizes this year.
Philips released 4K TV sets last year, which were large in size and now it 2014 it plans on launching set of smaller sizes. The new series known as the 8809 will include TV screens up to 55 inches in width. The TV sets will have high resolution Android technology allowing access to Google Play apps as well as Dropbox data. The device works well with a 1GHz refresh rate and employs Ambilight illumination to create a fitting environment for Hue lights as well as games.
There are alternative TV sets available at Philips as well, including sets having screens ranging from 48 to 55 inches with 1080 p. These are the 8109 and 8209 series. The 7809 version has sizes ranging from 42, 49 and 55 inch varieties of the TV alongside Google features.
In the second quarter of 2014, both the 7000 and the 8000 versions are expected to be launched in Russia and Europe. Despite this, there isn’t any news to favor their launch in the UK around the same time period. The prices have not been announced yet but one can expect these to be comparable to the earlier Philips’ TV’s of both 65 and 84 inch screens.
