WWE WrestleMania 30 has outdone itself in the capacity of highest grossing event. Hulk Hogan hosted this event while Brock Lesnar defeated Undertaker for the very first time.
The stadium at New Orleans was jam-packed down to the last few seats that soon got occupied by eager viewers of the action sequences in the ring.
WrestleMania 30 was the record-breaker event which took place in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The entertaining event was a crowd puller indeed.
Over 75,167 people attended and they were all eyes at the mock fighting of the professional wrestlers. It stands as a testament of sheer power with its capacity to attract adrenaline junkies from every corner of the country.
As the highest grossing entertainment event, it brought in $10.9 million into the already brimming coffers of the WWE. People from all the states of the US as well as over three dozen countries of the world attended the occurrence.
It was shown to rapt viewers around the globe via cable and satellite. And the scenes were relayed to a hundred countries in 20 major languages.
The last time the dome was the epicenter of the epiphenomenon of mass culture was when Beyonce performed for a large crowd. But that was last year.
With the WrestleMania event this year, the place has become an institution of sorts. It has acquired an aura of historicity for itself. The Mayor of New Orleans has especially been very generous in his support of the event.
"On behalf of the city of New Orleans, I would like to thank all of the fans who came from around the world to WrestleMania 30," said New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu. "WrestleMania has taken its rightful place amongst the most historic events ever held in New Orleans."
There were several highlights of the event. The Undertaker was defeated for the first time ever by Brock Lesnar this time in the WWE. And veteran wrestler Hulk Hogan served as a presenter. The title went to Daniel Bryan.
Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock were present at the happening as well. It was a time of excitement and lots of blustering and brouhaha by the wrestlers. The audience went crazy over the extreme acts of physical gymnastics in the ring. It will be remembered as a permanent meme in entertainment culture.
"The success of WrestleMania week in New Orleans would not have been possible without the tireless support of Mayor Mitch Landrieu, as well as our public and private sector partners who built an amazing blueprint to welcome our fans from around the world to this milestone celebration," said John P. Saboor, Executive Vice President of Special Events, WWE. "We now begin our exciting journey to Silicon Valley for WrestleMania 31."
As for WrestleMania 31, its venue will be Silicon Valley. The next WWE WrestleMania will take place on Sunday, March 29, 2015 from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA. WWE will announce about the availablity of tickets later this year.
