Hirst comes from a troubled background. He has a criminal past in his youth, but back then also his passion for art started. Hirst was born in 1965 in Bristol and grew up in Leeds. In 1984 he moved to London. He made a living in working construction before starting to study for a BA in Fine Art at Goldsmiths college from 1986 to 1989.
in his second year at the Goldsmiths colleague Hirst conceived and curated "Freeze." Freeze was a group exhibition in three phases that is commonly seen to have been the launching point not only for Damien Hirst, but for a generation of British artists.
Damien Hirst said about his upcoming autobiography: "I'm really pleased to be working with Penguin on my autobiography, they are a very cool and creative publisher with a huge amount of energy and enthusiasm. They care about all their readers from top to bottom and are not afraid of pushing the boundaries."
The Damien Hirst autobiography is slated to be released in fall of 2015.
