Comcast and Time Warner might have leaked the fact that Apple has a new TV in the works

Many have been waiting on the release of a new Apple TV since the company started falling behind other companies who are producing set top boxes, but there are new confirmations that this is going to be happening sometime soon.

Apple Balla reports that Apple is working on a new Apple TV, there haven’t been any news coming from major companies. That is, until now. Comcast and Time Warner are working on merging and they have been forced to file papers with the FCC as a result of this. An interesting bit of information in their filings is the statement that Apple is going to be working on a new Apple TV, which they say increases the need for their merger in order to keep up with the changing media landscape.

Some speculation is being shed on this, though, because there isn’t any specific information here. This could very well be speculation on the part of Comcast and Time Warner, but it might also mean they are planning on working on something along with Apple. Apple has been talking to several companies about acquiring new content, which could be indicated here.

We’ll have to wait for official news before knowing for sure, but this is certainly a step in the right direction. It can’t be known for sure until Apple says it, although there is no reason to think that they aren’t working on something new. If they fail to deliver something that changes the way people see Apple TV, they risk falling farther behind companies like Roku, Amazon, and Chromecast.
