Kate Mara tipped to star in movie, but other rumors say no

Kate Mara is an actress best known for her role in the Netflix series House of Cards. A rumor is circulating that Mara has been cast to play a role in a TV movie about the Cleveland kidnappings of Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry, and Gina DeJesus.

The movie is said to be a Lifetime movie about the events of Ariel Castro keeping the three women prisoners in his home for a decade reports The film is said to be produced by Sony Pictures.

“After her sensational turn in ‘House of Cards,’ producers at Sony are desperate for Kate to take on the role of Michelle Knight,” a source said. “They feel that Kate would be able to capture Michelle’s vulnerability and psychological pain — something she excelled at as Zoe Barnes."

No other roles in the film have been cast according to rumors. However, other rumors going around claim that Mara is saying she has not been cast in the film. I will say she seems to be going rather big time right now and putting her in a made for TV movie on Lifetime seems like a step down. According to this rumor, Mara herself debunked the casting via Twitter with a link to a story on the role and a comment saying, "Wait. I did? I should call my agent..."
