What a great occasion that offered Jennifer Lopez a perfect opportunity to share some insights on her personal life? It was the 25th Annual GLAAD Media Awards that Lopez showed her acceptance and appreciation to have taken part. This platform brought several celebrities and other personalities together thus will ever remain in the memories of some people like Jennifer. The event was held in Beverly Hills on Saturday, April 12th where the organization had invited very many people. For Jennifer Lopez, besides being an artiste she is also the executive producer on ABC Family on drama series known as, The Fosters.
While presenting her award for this great work done, Oscar winner Rita Moreno did not waste any opportunity to appreciate Jennifer. Moreno expressed that even the Vanguard Award is not enough to portray who is Jennifer Lopez in the entertainment industry. It will be remembered that Lopez is one of the successful judges on American Idol where Rita never ceased to bring out a great irony. Looking at where Jennifer has come from as far as entertainment industry is concerned, there is a big reason for her to have re-subscribed. All these were shared by her on stage while dressed in a glowing sequined dress.
The dress was designed by Jennifer’s favorite designer, Zuhair Murad. As an executive producer, the opportunity did not strike at her with an immediate reaction. Jennifer took time to think whether she should go for the job or leave it. As she says, it is not always smooth to be active in the media not even to talk of being in the public eye. What makes the show controversial is the subject matter thus the main reason for Jennifer’s initial reluctance. Still in her address, the global superstar was very quick to point out how she listened to her heart and mind before agreeing to take up the role of producing The Fosters.
Now, something which triggered the entire crowd is when Jennifer decided to speak out about her aunt Marisa. The 44-year-old international singer opened up on her aunt’s status as a gay. Besides being an older sister to her mom, Lopez appreciated that Marisa was a cool aunt indeed. In their early ages, Lopez used to live in Bronx while Marisa was staying in Manhattan. Marisa’s desire to become an actress motivated Jennifer Lopez as a sign of emulating the aunt. Nevertheless, life seemed to be very difficult for the aunt during her gay time.
Jennifer revealed that nobody had wished to get associated to any problem that could face Marisa since everything was kept to herself. Lopez could not understand the plight of gays not until she grew older. Some of the lessons Jennifer managed to learn from her family were directed to; love, acceptance, and tolerance among others. The NYC native believes that wherever Marisa, she could love every step Jennifer took. Indeed, Annual GLAAD Media Awards ceremony was great!
