Lara Spencer has gained a spot on the Good Morning America show along with co-hosts George Stephanopoulos and Robin Roberts. GMA has been undergoing a lot of reshuffling of late. Weather reporter Sam Champion left and his slot was filled by Ginger Zee. Then Amy Robach was substituted for Josh Elliot.
Meanwhile, Michael Strahan and Tony Reali are new newsmen as well. Spencer’s rising through the ranks was a bygone conclusion. About 30 days into her contract with ABC, the decision was taken and implemented.
"A key member of our on-air team, Lara Spencer, rejoined ABC three years ago -- bringing her style, humor, sunny confidence, wonderful journalism and storytelling to GMA," New ABC News chief James Goldston announced on Friday. "Lara is clearly an essential ingredient in the success we have enjoyed and I am so pleased to announce that Lara has been elevated to co-host of the program along with Robin and George."
Lara Spencer was a part of a magazine before she joined GMA three years ago. Lara Spencer even got to cross examine Vice President Joe Biden recently. Biden referred to the interview as an opportunity for women’s lib to flourish.
Lara will play a crucial role in the successful hosting of GMA. She is a vivacious and gracious personality that is bubbly and has a sense of humor to boot. Her blonde hair and infectious smile have a way of setting the most negative individuals at ease. She will clearly be a plus point for the show and an asset indeed.
Lara enjoys asking all sorts of skewering questions to the rich and famous people she interviews. She never gives in and keeps the pressure on the personalities who are literally forced to reveal all. Her work ethic is pretty much about perseverance and power. She is a strong woman in a cruel man’s world.
Yet Lara does not feel insecure in the least. In fact, she enjoys the foil to her abilities and capabilities. The friction with the environment brings out the best in her repertoire. She is a winner and a wise media matriarch who can juggle all the responsibilities that come with the territory.
"I remain in awe of the entire staff at GMA," added Goldston. "With Tom [Cibrowski] at the helm and Ben's brilliant leadership, your drive, passion, creativity and unwavering dedication to ABC News and GMA brought us to where we are today. As I close out my first week in the new job, I want to take a moment to thank everyone for all your good wishes. I could not be more excited and honored to work with this stellar team. Your dedication and passion are unmatched and I look forward to reaching great new heights alongside all of you."
