The name Macaulay Culkin is probably a name that most people recognize. Culkin was a child actor who made it big in the Home Alone franchise that saw him battling with bungling thieves after being left home by himself accidentally.
Culkin is now in what may be the strangest band in history. The band is called Pizza. Pizza Underground is described as a Velvet Underground and Lou reed tribute act that changes the lyrics of the songs to be about pizza.
Think Femme Fatale becoming Pizza Gal or Talk a Walk on the wild Side becoming Take a Bite of the Wild Slice. It sounds like a very weird band.
The band gave a very bizarre interview to Asbury Park Press. One of the questions from the interview asked, "Does the Pizza Underground play Velvet Underground songs with words about pizza, or songs about pizza set to the tunes of Velvet Underground songs?"
The reply from an unknown band member was, "The song comes first. Then we just let the pizza speak through us. The pizza replaces most words with “cheese.”
Another oddball question and answer was, "How would the Pizza Underground approach a cover of Lou Reed’s instrumental noise masterpiece, “Metal Machine Music?”
The band answered, "Probably by locking ourselves in a pizza oven and then fighting our way out."
I don’t think you will be hearing this band on the radio anytime soon. Who thinks up a band that turns songs that people may know into songs about pizza?
