A man wielding a potato as a weapon tried to rob a gas station earlier this month on April 21st in Providence, Rhode Island. The man was chased away by workers at the station with baseball bats, and managed to escape capture by the police.
With-in thirty minutes he once again tried to rob another store. This time a dry cleaning store was his target. The owners were kind enough to oblige him with a counterfeit $20 bill.
On Monday, April 28th he was questioned by law enforcement officials. Gary Deming admitted to police during an interview that he attached a potato to the end of a butane lighter to make it look as if it was a handgun according to turnto10 local news.
He’s being charged with assault with intent to commit robbery. Officials said 34-year-old Gary Deming was already being held at the ACI on other charges.

The “geek mind” is concerned with life, in all its different forms and facets. The geek mind wants to know about societal and financial issues, both abroad and at home. If a Fortune 500 decides to raise their minimum wage, or any high priority news, the geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants to know the top teams in the National Football League, or who’s likely to win the NBA Finals this coming year. The geek mind wants to know who the hottest new models are, or whether the newest blockbuster movie is worth seeing. The geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants—needs—knowledge.
