The first Mega Millions winners in Florida claimed their huge winnings.
The Florida Lottery announced that the members of the Cobie and Seamus Trust Dated April 21, 2014, Raymond Moyer and Robyn Collier, both 35, of Merritt Island, claimed the prize. The members of the trust chose to receive the winnings in a one-time, lump-sum payment in the amount of $115,448,968.00.
"We didn’t know we had won until the next morning when the numbers were on the news," said Collier. "I paused the TV and ran to get the ticket to double check the numbers and when I realized they all matched I jumped off the couch in excitement and told Raymond we had won."
"I didn’t believe her until I saw the store where we purchased the ticket on the news," Moyer said. "It was definitely a shock, but it is an incredible blessing that will allow us to do many things we would not have had the opportunity to do before." The winners say they plan on investing, traveling and going to as many Notre Dame football games as they can.
The March drawing had an overall jackpot of $414m. There is another winner in Maryland that has not come forward yet.
The next Mega Millions drawing is on Friday. The current jackpot is at $81m. Via the Mega Millions site.
