She spoke of how she felt sick for some time and wondered how she could be facing such circumstances at such a young age. That was when she changed her diet and started exercising.
“I had gotten really sick,” the 24-year-old singer-songwriter told TODAY in an interview on Friday as part of “Love Your Selfie, Reclaiming Beauty” week. “And I was about to celebrate my birthday and I was like, ‘I should be in the prime of my life right now. I shouldn't be feeling like this. I really need to make my health a priority.’ And that's what I did.”
Her goal was to become healthy and not to become a size zero model. Now she is hovering somewhere in between 155 and 161 pounds. And according to Sparks, she feels so much better.
“I go anywhere from, like, 155 to 161,” she said. “So I'm right around there. That's where I am.”
In fact, she feels on top of the world. The fact that in Hollywood, there is always pressure on the stars to be skinny is no reason to overdo the diet and exercise routine.
Jordin admitted that it was a maddening process. The constant niggling doubts, that accompany weight gain and weight loss, were coupled with everyone being interested in what your health status was.
“Instead, I loved the way I looked before,” she said. “I was comfortable with how I looked. But, a lot of it has been really focusing on becoming healthier. And the plus side was that my body changed, which was awesome. It wasn't about being a zero or a certain size or anything like that.”
Jordin was fine with her previous weight. But she wanted to be a healthier specimen. She made the mirror her best friend and with her currently smart and slim physique, she is a source of inspiration for most females.
“I know that there are some women who struggle to even look themselves in the mirror,” she said. “And I hope that those women who are struggling can watch this and go, ‘You know what? I'm OK with who I am. And I'm beautiful in my own way.’"
Her all-new bikini body was the most impressive thing and she was totally wowed by the impact she made. Never could Jordin have guessed that one day she would wear such a skimpy swimsuit.
She has gone ahead and encouraged women of her age group to have a lot of fun by visiting the beach and exposing some skin. That way they will get a better body image and carry themselves well to boot. Nothing feels as good as a body that is fit and fabulous.
“Just go have a good time,” Sparks said. “And you know, rock your bathing suit, whether it's a tankini or a one piece or a bikini or you have, like, a nice little sarong. Dress yourself up and go have a good time.”
