Jon Gruden Says Jay Is The Better Coach

Jon Gruden, known most recently for his role as an announcer for ESPN's "Monday Night Football," has always been quick to praise people in front of the camera.  This time, his brother Jay is in the spotlight to get some praise from his brother about his coaching skills.

Gruden, 46, was most recently offensive coordinator of the Cincinnati Bengals , helping that team to three playoff berths in his three seasons there. He spent seven years in the 2000s as an offensive assistant for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers under his older brother Jon.

Then, Jay got his break for his first head coaching job with the Washington Redskins -- a team that has had a legacy of winning in the past, but hasn't been able to have success on the field since Joe Gibbs left.

The brothers were recently at a banquet to honor Joe Gibbs -- Fox 5′s Lindsay Murphy asked the brothers to make the comparison themselves.

“I have a lot of faults,” Jon Gruden said. “You know, he was a lot better player than I was. He’s a lot better coach. I couldn’t take care of my emotions. I’m still a basket case. They called me Chucky, so I think you get my drift.”

“I’m a little bit more laidback than he is — on the surface that is,” Jay Gruden said. “We’re both very competitive. We love to win, we love football, and that runs in the family I guess. Football runs in our blood and we love to compete. We love to win, and we’ll do whatever it takes to do that.”

Murphy also asked Jay Gruden if he’s picked the brain of Gibbs yet.

“Dan [Snyder] has filled me in a lot about Joe Gibbs and what he brought to the team and what he meant to the franchise. And hopefully I follow in his footsteps and do some great things like him, but it is big shoes to fill, I’ll tell you that,” Gruden said. “I haven’t had a lot of time to talk to him yet. He’s a pretty busy guy, you know what I mean? So hopefully I’ll be able to pick his brain tonight and in the future also.”

“No advice! I give no advice to Jay!” Gibbs joked. “He’s gonna do great. The only thing I would help him with is Washington and what it’s all about. But I told him when he first got the job, I talked to him that first day and I just said you’re gonna love it. I said it’s the greatest place in the world to coach, it’s the greatest sports franchise in the world, and I said you’re gonna love Dan Snyder.”

Why NFL Draftee Derek Carr Is Sure to Be a Stud

Source: Bleacher Report

In a draft teeming with intriguing quarterback prospects, the Oakland Raiders’ selection of Derek Carr in the second round garnered little attention. Carr possesses many of the tools seemingly necessary to develop into a solid professional quarterback. He has a powerful arm and routinely slotted balls in between tight coverage at Fresno State, where he broke numerous school passing records. And at 6’2", 214 pounds, he’s built ...

'Game of Thrones' scorecard: A mammoth battle at the Wall

Source: SBNation

All season long, we're keeping score in "Game of Thrones." Why? Because SOMEONE has to keep track of all the skull-crushing and heart-breaking. Oh, and the giant scythes. Can't forget those. This "Game of Thrones" discussion is written by someone who has read George R.R. Martin's books but will generally only discuss events that have happened on the HBO's televised version ...
