The announcement was made in a financial statement that marked Yves Guillemot's goals for the coming 18-months and serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Ubisoft Entertainment.
"The year’s performance will be led by five games – Assassin’s Creed Unity, FarCry4, JustDance, The Crew and WatchDogs. Watch Dogs’ pre-orders are at record levels and it is perfectly positioned to become the industry’s most successful new IP in history." Yves Guillemot concluded "Drawing on the strengths of our multi-studio organizational structure, our constant drive to innovate and our recognized expertise in creating successful new brands, Ubisoft should outperform the industry in both 2014 and the following years."
Far Cry 4 is coming to Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC on November 18. Today's confirmation of Far Cry 4 comes after a flurry of leaks. Here's how Ubisoft sets up the story for Far Cry 4:
"In Far Cry 4, players find themselves in Kyrat, a breathtaking, perilous and wild region of the Himalayas struggling under the regime of a despotic self-appointed king. Using a vast array of weapons, vehicles, and animals, players will write their own story across an exotic open-world landscape."
In the report also released the Executive Producer of the game also stated they wanted to bring a whole new level to the Farcry Series that fans have not yet seen before.
“Following the success of Far Cry 3, we wanted to take the franchise to the next level and create a game that will surprise players and exceed fans’ expectations,” said Dan Hay, Executive Producer, in a statement. “Given the unique setting, we feel Far Cry 4 will stand out as a top first-person shooter and we’re eager to reveal more about the game in the coming months.”
The Montreal studio -- who is leading development for the upcoming game, is also collaborating with Ubisofts' Toronto, Kiev, and Shanghai studios, as well as Ghost Recon: Future Soldier developer Red Storm on Far Cry 4.
Pre-orders for the game are now live, and those who throw their cash down early will receive an upgrade to the Limited Edition, which comes with three single-player missions centered around Hurk, a character from Far Cry 3. Players who pre-order will also receive Hurk's signature weapon, a harpoon gun called "The Impaler."
