Before Danity Kane took the stage in San Francisco on Friday night to launch their comeback tour, an emotional — and noticeably pregnant Fimbres addressed the rumors and confirmed she was departing.
"I do have to say one thing, if you guys don't know: I just recently got engaged," the pop star told the audience. "I can tell you that two dreams of mine [have] been to be a singer and be on stage like this and to have a family. Well, in a couple months, that's all coming true. I'm about to get married and I have this beautiful new little girl with me," Fimbres said before introducing her future stepdaughter.
"I've gotten to do some amazing things with Danity Kane," Fimbres continued, "but it's time for me to start the next chapter in my life. So I thank you guys from the bottom of my heart...I love you so much. And I just wanted you guys to know from me." Referring to Danity Kane's Shannon Bex, Aubrey O'Day and Dawn Richard, Fimbres said, "They are going to kill it for you while I go and have some babies."
Fimbres' departure from Danity Kane should come as no surprise to attentive fans. Last week, the group released its first new single since disbanding in 2009, "Lemonade," which featured only three young girls on the album cover, which was meant to mimic the looks of members Dawn Richard, Aubrey O'Day and Shannon Box.
Danity Kane reunited after their break up in 2009 only to have fans learn that "D Woods" would not return as one of the original members. With the departure of Fimbres the group is down to three members and could potentially spark rumors of a replacement -- or even a compellation with "D Woods" -- who mentioned she would be up for getting back together for a project with the group when she first announced she was doing solo projects in a report by Us Weekly.
"If the opportunity presents itself, I would definitely be open to recording and/or performing with Danity Kane again," she continued. "I appreciate all the love and support of DK and myself. God bless!"
Danity Kane's 13-date U.S. tour resumed on May 18 and continues through early June.
