Even the wildest imaginations among the high school graduates could not have imagined that of all the people Sandra Bullock would arrive and give them a pep talk.
When she came on Monday the crowd of students just went wild. Bullock has continuously aided the high school since its brush with Hurricane Katrina about nine years back.
Sandra spoke of what she would have said to herself when she was in her youth. According to the actress, she would have said the same words she does now to her son.
She told the audience to quit getting anxious over small things and try to live in the present. She also advised against being fearful of what you don’t know. She said what she was scared of never happened in the future.
She spoke to the student body regarding the standards it applied in its life. They should be high. If others wanted to see you be a failure that was their issue and had no bearing on your behavior.
"If you could go back and talk to your younger self, what would you say?" she began. "I wished someone had said to me what I've been spending the last four years telling a little boy, who I love more than anything, who happens to be my son," Bullock said of her adopted child Louis Bardo Bullock.
"So I thought, 'Maybe I will share that with you guys, that what I tell a 4-year-old is what I wish someone had told me before I stepped out into the world,'" she continued.
"Stop being scared of the unknown, because anything I worried about didn't happen," she said. "Other stuff happened. The unknown we can't do anything about."
Sandra said that hate must be met with goals of your own so that you could achieve in life instead of just getting stuck. She spoke of how there was no such thing as failure since something entirely different lies in your fate than the thing you failed in.
Sandra turned on the volume of the music in her car everyday because she liked to enjoy life. She also tried to eat something from the green vegetables group everyday. And finally she said that we ought to try not to pick our nose in public since it was a disgusting habit.
"It's what you're going to remember in the end," she said in the end of her speech. "It's not the worry. It's not the what-ifs. It's the joy that stays with you."
The actress recently also settled a two year long lawsuit she had brought out against ToyWatch jewelers who had used her images to sell diamond encrusted watches. The issue has been resolved on unknown terms outside of court.
