A Buckingham Palace spokeswoman announced Wednesday that "The duke has had a minor procedure carried out on his right hand." 92 year old Prince Philip was spotted wearing a bandage on his right hand when he visited Margaret Pyke Centre, a reproductive healthcare clinic, in London.
However, the palace representative said that the Duke of Edinburgh "is wearing a bandage as protection". Prince Philip's hand operation was done at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday morning.
Prince Philip is 92 years old. And the people of this age usually suffer from different ailments. Prince Philip is no exception at all. He has also suffered a series of ailments in the past few years.
He had an abdominal surgery last year and he remained out of the scene for a few months after that. In the past two years he has gone to the hospital four times.
But Prince Philip is a lively person. He is in good spirit even after the hand operation. When he met the staff, he said, "At least you are all legitimate."
And his current surgery will not affect the duke's engagement ceremonies. "The duke's engagements will continue as planned," said the palace spokeswoman.
Prince Philip is also expected to join Queen Elizabeth for a state visit to France. This visit will commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Normandy landings. The visit starts on June 5th and will continue on till June 7th.
