LeVar Burton Starts Kickstarter Campaign for Reading Rainbow

The famous actor and educator, LeVar Burton has made a plea before the public to aid him in his Kickstarter campaign regarding the provision of books and other multimedia resources to young children.

The Reading Rainbow campaign is one that everyone agrees with. Its function is purely to benefit the kids as far as intellectual and emotional skills are concerned.

The Reading Rainbow apps will be granted and websites will be available to teachers to groom and mold the behavior of eager students. Some of the schools and educational institutions that will benefit from this scheme are stuck in the rut of poverty.

Burton spoke regarding the wonderful platform that was Kickstarter. It has accomplished so much since its brief existence. And there was so much more that was possible thanks to the strategies and plans that were hatched on the very popular platform.

Burton said, "Over the past few years, we've all seen amazing, inspiring projects come to life on Kickstarter. Together, passionate people have made incredible things possible. Today, I hope you'll join all of us at Reading Rainbow on a mission to make a difference in the lives of children, families and schools around the world."

Parents, teachers and children will be cooperating in their quest to form the future. And it is a bright future that will get built thanks to LeVar’s creative campaign.

The Reading Rainbow series has won several Emmy awards and a Peabody to boot. It has a vast viewership on television and is the chief attraction on PBS. It’s been a generation since this program has been educating and entertaining so many people.

It was just two years ago that Burton began extending this program via tablets and other accessories and spinoffs. The reaction of the people was absolutely electric. Everybody loved the idea and enjoyed the facilities and amenities that this stratagem made accessible.

The next step for Burton is to make the resources reach every child. The legendary status held by Reading Rainbow in the psyche of the patrons, lecturers and pupils of America is such that it will yield many treasures of the mind for a long time to come.

Reading Rainbow's Kickstarter campaign started on Wednesday, May 28, at 9:15 am EDT and it will end at 12pm EDT on Wednesday, July 2.

The campaign's initial $1 million goal will fund:

1. A web-based version of Reading Rainbow for universal access

2. An Educator-specific version with the tools teachers need

3. FREE access to the service for a minimum of 1500 classrooms

Yancey Strickler, Co-Founder and CEO of Kickstarter said, "Many of us at Kickstarter grew up watching Reading Rainbow on TV. The chance to inspire a new generation of kids to read is just amazing. We can't wait to back it."
