Cindy McCain scolded Gwyneth Paltrow recently for her insensitive remarks regarding war and soldiers that she compared to her Internet experience with trolls.
Gwyneth Paltrow truly put her foot in her mouth by saying that her chancing upon trolls in cyberspace was like soldiers on tour of duty in a foreign land. She however has just stirred up a hornet’s nest and
Cindy McCain is the woman that is after her blood. In the capacity of being the wife of John McCain, Cindy was absolutely outraged by Paltrow’s offhand comments. She went on twitter especially to term the A-list actress a big joke.
Gweneth Paltrow is a joke. Her life is like taking bullets for a soldier. What a joke! My 2 sons serving in the military should talk to her.— Cindy McCain (@cindymccain) May 29, 2014
Cindy also spoke of how she would love to send her two sons, who were currently in the military, to have a face to face talk with the pampered starlet. She furthermore called Gwyneth a highly ignorant person who was selfish to the extreme.
“I would encourage Gwyneth Paltrow -- and I would be happy to go with her -- to go sit down with some troops who have served in Afghanistan or Iraq and talk to them about what really goes on, and perhaps meet some of the young men and women who have lost limbs from this,” Cindy McCain said on HLN Now TV. “It’s Hollywood; I don’t know what else to say.”
Cindy made an open offer to take her to meet with veterans who would tell her a different story that might just change her mind regarding war and the soldiers who fought in it.
Perhaps Gweneth Paltrow should go out on patrol with some soldiers. Kind of like a Red Carpet in her mind I guess!— Cindy McCain (@cindymccain) May 29, 2014
Cindy, who is exasperated with this sort of nonchalant attitude towards the armed forces, said that if only Gwyneth knew the limbs lost by so many of our boys in Afghanistan and Iraq, she would think twice before spewing such vitriol.
Finally, she spoke of how it was an obvious symptom of some of the people you found in that unrealistic place called Hollywood. Paltrow had made the disagreeable comments at a conference on the Internet.
She said that the sort of dehumanizing and insulting things you found printed about yourself on some forums on the Net were like soldiers facing hell in war-like conditions.
“They serve so selflessly; they serve so that people like Gwyneth Paltrow can say the things that she did freely,” McCain said in her interview with HLN Now TV. “I encourage people to remember that our veterans and our active-duty military right now are putting their lives in harm’s way -- and they do that freely and they do that voluntarily. I just think she’s way out of touch.”
She hoped that the next stage of conscience could be reached soon so that such meanness and rudeness would become a thing of the past. Cindy however is adamant that Gwyneth picked the wrong metaphor for her personal problems.
She even said that it was precisely these self-sacrificing soldiers because of which people like Gwyneth could speak anything they wanted to so easily.
