Samsung Galaxy S5 Otterbox Commuter covers

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is by far one of the smoothest and sleek of the Samsung Galaxy series. Because of this, the phone can be a little hard to handle for people who tend to be a bit clumsy. For this purpose, most of the covers that have been designed for this particular model are made of materials that increase one’s grip.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Otterbox Commuter covers

It is best to go for a cover that will serve your need. Like if you want a cover that will look stylish and attractive, it is best to go for one that is light weight and intricately designed. On the other hand, if you wish to have something tougher and protective, you should go for the Otterbox commuter series.

Design and parts

The design of the Otterbox Commuter Series is not the most attractive but it is very practical. It is basically composed of three parts. The outer most part is made of polycarbonate plastic. This shell helps keep the inner rubber layer intact and also protects the phone from scratches and getting scuffed. It gives a sleek look to the cover.

The middle portion is made of rubber and fits onto the frame of your phone. The basic function of the rubber layer and its strategic position is to increase shock-absorption.  Dropping one’s phone or letting it slip from your hand is something that happens to every phone owner. The rubber layer of the cover prevents the full impact of a fall from being transferred to the phone. In this way, it protects your phone from any possible damage. This comes in very handy especially when you are travelling.

The last component is the scratch-proof plastic cover for the screen. It is adhesive and needs to be put on very carefully; otherwise the overall outlook of the screen could become a little blurry. This is the only part of the cover that needs a bit of skill to be handled. Overall, the cover is easy to put on and does not require a lot of time to do so.

Pros and Cons

The Pros are many; starting from the overall performance to the pricing.

  • It gives good protection from scuffs and scratches
  • It is easy to use.
  • It gives a sleek finish.
  • The price is reasonable and many more.
The cons are there as well; no good thing can come without a flaw.

  • The heart sensor button can only be reached from under the top lip of the rubber component. This can feel a bit unnatural and uncomfortable at first.

In light of everything mentioned above, it is safe to say that the Commuter Series by Otterbox is definitely worth a shot. Anybody who has a Samsung galaxy S5 should try it out once.
