Dave Chappelle told Letterman that he did not quit Chappelle Show, he is just 7 years late for work.
Dave Chappelle had a much noted appearance on the David Letterman on Tuesday. Letterman asked him why he quit his legendary Dave Chapelle Show on Comedy Central years ago. Chappelle said: "Technically. I never quit. I am just seven years late for work."
During the interview he did not reveal the specific reasons why he did not accept Comedy Central's big $50 million offer to continue the show. The take away is that he had enough money to make choices back then. He could afford to say no and avoid the pressure and hard work to continue The Dave Chappelle Show.
Chappelle did not do any TV work in the past years. Chappelle continued to do live stand-up. Chappelle is also going on a new tour with a stand-up program starting this month. Watch the funny and weird interview with Dave Chappelle on the Letterman show below.
