Latino Review broke the news that 21-year-old Billie was to appear in Star Wars: Episode VII, in an unknown role.
Now The Sun has reported that Billie - Carrie's only child from her relationship with casting agent Bryan Lourd - will play a young Princess Leia in flashback scenes in the film.
The 57-year-old actress reprises her role as Princess Leia in the upcoming latest installment of the sci-fi series, which is currently being filmed at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, southeast England.
Even though Fisher's daughter Billie Lourd, 21, is a relative unknown, director J.J. Abrams is said to have chosen her to play a young version of her mother's character because of their visual similarities.
In a report by The Sun a source gave insight as what to expect from the scenes she would be playing in the upcoming film.
‘She will even have her hair tied up in Princess Leia-style buns. She's an aspiring actress and singer so she grabbed the opportunity with both hands.
‘Carrie backed the move as she wanted somebody in her family to play her most famous role.’
A source close to the set claims that Billie joined her mother on set in early June 2014.
“Billie flew into the UK to join her mother earlier this month,” a source told The Sun, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Star Wars: Episode VII also stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong'o and Gwendoline Christie. They join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker.
Disney's Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled for release in December 2015.
